As regular readers of our blog will know, Philip Goodyer from our lettings team organise a number of events for Suffolk charity ‘Upbeat’. The latest event raised £700 for the charity, and will help them support and provide activities for people who have had major heart surgery.

Here’s their report of the event:

The Masquerade Big Band Dance organised by Phil & Jacqui Goodyer of “Dance With Us Suffolk” at The Delphi Centre was a fabulous evening of music for dancing from the 1920’s to 1960’s.

The big band “Swing Machine“  from Ipswich were brilliant covering music from the Swing Era. The Delphi Centre was decorated with masks and Art Deco features which transformed the ballroom into a glittering space. During the evening the two band singers Amy and Steve covered some great songs and we had a guest singer from the Boxford Drama Group, Frances Korabik who was brilliant.

Our DJ, Phantom Steve of Mayfair Music covered the intervals so it was continuous dancing all evening. Those attending really got into the spirit of the evening all wearing fabulous masks and outfits. The availability to have photos taken on the night from Stour Media against a beautiful staircase backdrop gave many people the opportunity to take away a perfect memory of the evening.

Local companies including The Bull Long Melford , Perrywood Garden Centre, Sunflowers of Sudbury and Stoke By Nayland Spa supported the Charity event.

It was a pleasure to have Hilary Neeves, Secretary of UPBEAT attend with Giles and others who had been supported by UPBEAT.

A further event will be held on Saturday 22nd June at The Delphi Centre which will be a 1940’s Vintage Revival Day, a day full of nostalgia for all the family, a date to put in your diaries.
