A fantastic service was provided from start to finish by Tim and the team at the Castle Hedingham office. Moving house is always very stressful but Tim was always there to calm the situation and sort the various queries and problems which arise right up until exchange and completion. Nothing was ever too much trouble and phone calls were ALWAYS returned if they were unavailable at the time of your call, a rarity nowadays. We have used a number of estate agents in the past, but David Burr in Leavenheath far outshine the rest. When estate agents were able to open again with the easing of lockdown, we needed to get our house on the market and sold as quickly as possible. We were conscious of the state of the market post Covid -19, so didn't hold much hope! However, Jack was incredibly helpful, professional and meticulous in the preparation of particulars. We had a buyer within a day and we hadn't actually hit the market yet, that wouldn't have happened if Jack and his team didn't maintain such good, professional relationships with all of their clients. There is a genuine desire to help buyers and sellers in this office and they work hard to deliver personal customer service, something I find can be very difficult to come by. Jack Thornley was recommended to me by a neighbour as a potential privately arranged sale I had arranged myself turned nasty and fell through. He spoke to me on the phone and was so reassuring that it took away a lot of the angst and worry.David Burr then marketed our house with beautiful pictures that wowed our friends and family, and the potential buyers! We had two offers within ten days, and accepted one from the sort of family we had dreamed of passing our house on to.Then the chain broke in the middle of the Brexit turmoil in October 2019. That’s when we saw how very good Jack, Julian and Sam were. They helped us stay calm, were more on top of our buyers’ buyers house sale than our buyers’ estate agent. In fact, in our chain, we all refer to Jack as the ‘really good’ estate agent who we refer difficulties to.Yesterday we exchanged at a price 98.3% of the asking price in a terrible market. I'm the same Vicki Martin who wrote a review 2 years ago giving only a moderate rating, but indicating I thought extensive staff changes had been made. Alas I can't log into that account to edit it.It takes guts for a business to admit mistakes were made but then continue with the same customer. After failing to sell with Burrs Newmarket the first time around, my property was off the market for some months (builders next door!) before going back on with other agents ... two prospective sales then fell through (one at a very late stage), so another agent change was needed. I had two main contenders to take this forward; some would have considered me crazy to go back to Burrs again after various issues the first time around, but Luke's interest, approach and obvious experience backed by the fact that fundamentally I just like Burr's style (great photos - by a pro; personalised approach; classy image; attractive range of especially rural properties which are shown to viewers in a relaxed-yet-efficient, non-hard sell manner - NB I also bought through Burrs in Bury St Edmunds) left me persuaded to try again. (Luke hadn't been employed in the office when my property was on with Burrs previously).Yes, it's taken a while - but mine is a rather unique property. I welcomed guidance on guide price adjustment, in line with likely seasonal changes in market interest - and it looks that a sale will now proceed (I'll update this when it's gone through) with a buyer who has been properly vetted as to financial availability and likelihood of chain issues. I've never felt pushed ... the office staff have kept on top of things and frequently gone 'above and beyond' the basic service. One always would like to get more for a property but sometimes you have to draw a line on waiting for 'the right person' and the reduction we made brought a swift result.I have come to hold a relatively low expectation of estate agents from various experiences in recent years (many of them seem to be email phobic in particular, which seems nuts given that most marketing is now online - and sending out staff on viewings who have never even been to the village, no mind the property before, and don't know where e.g. alarm panels are located, is ridiculous - NB these things happened with *other* agents, not Burrs!). Minor glitches will always happen from time to time - but you won't go far wrong with Burrs - indeed there's a lot to like about them.

Estate agents have a poor reputation nationally but our experience of David Burrs service gives an example of how a top class agency works. From start to finish Jack and Julian could not have been more helpful. I had to sell my sister's house as she had died so it was a sad time for me. In addition I live up north so had to rely of the staff to do many things for me, such as making regular visits to the property for insurance purposes. Jack skilfully negotiated a good deal for us and saw us through a rather tricky few months until the sale was closed. This is a five star service.

We appointed Murray Rose at David Burr's Bury St Edmunds office to sell our property in early 2017 - a large detached bungalow sitting on a 4acre plot in a desirable village just outside Bury St Edmunds, the first time the family-built house had ever gone to market. Having met with several reputable local agents I felt Murray showed the most appetite and desire to be the selling agent, he was always the most prompt of the agents we talked to and never required chasing for a response, offering information and advice almost immediately. I always felt I was getting realistic advice from Murray rather than lip-service - whilst other agents were happy to agree to whatever price or selling method we wanted, I had more confidence that Murray was being realistic whilst pushing for the best price - I feel this is what you get with David Burr. We managed to attract many potential buyers and the final transaction with the purchaser went very smoothly. We achieved around the price we expected, and felt that Murray had got the most from the eventual purchaser on our behalf. Would recommend Burr's without hesitation.
