Property market update – November ’19

Our Managing Director, Nick Mills, discusses Brexit, Christmas and the current state of the property market

Posted: December 2, 2019

November was a fascinating month, quite unprecedented in many ways both locally and nationally.

As our leading politicians have been exploring new ways to undermine each other (whilst simultaneously undermining themselves!) the economic response locally has seen a surprising rally in numbers with month on month sales up in November by 44%. Whilst far from being out of the woods the consensus appears to be that life really will go on next year and an end to the uncertainty may well be in sight.

Property market review - November 2019

The property market – Winter 2019

An increase in new homes sales has certainly contributed to the strong month and with valuation levels up 9% it re-affirms our belief the public are looking positively to the year ahead. New buyer levels and viewings are both down, 19% & 5% respectively, certainly a reflection the time of year but with sales figures up it highlights the run into Christmas is all about quality over quantity.

Our lettings team

Our lettings department has grown on all fronts and we welcome Chris Swallow to the management team, a timely addition as the number of successful applications has risen again this month. Congratulations also to Miles Edmunds based in our Clare office who successfully passed his exams this week to become a member of the National Association of Estate Agents.

Discreet property marketing service

With new instruction levels inevitably dropping over the winter I would like to remind you of our discreet marketing service. A significant proportion of our new instructions over the coming weeks will not be openly marketed so if you are searching for your next home ensure you are registered with us for property updates.
