                   Sworders: A perfect ten
It’s been an anniversary year for one of the largest Fine Art auctioneers in East Anglia
The year has seen Sworders Fine Art Auctioneers celebrate a tenth year in its award-winning eco-friendly straw bale saleroom, another
milestone in a business which can trace its heritage to humble beginnings above a coffee shop in Bishops Stortford in 1782.
At its core, Sworders hold four Fine Interiors auctions a year and Homes and Interiors sales are held every fortnight, all at their saleroom in Stansted Mountfitchet. One of the largest auctioneers in East Anglia, they cater for both buyers and sellers who are looking to start a collection, furnish a home, or look for an easy and approachable firm to auction family heirlooms.
Understanding new trends has also led Sworders to enhance its sales programme with regular auctions of East Anglian Art, Modern Design, Contemporary Prints, Asian Art, Fine Wine, Jewellery and Watches.
Specialists are available to value by appointment at client’s homes or at the Stansted Mountfitchet auction rooms. They also hold valuation events across the region.
The Homes and Interiors sales are invaluable for private buyers and the trade alike, sourcing fresh-to-the-market

items ranging from Clarice Cliff ceramics to Georgian furniture and works of art. Highlights from the last twelve months include items from across the region: tapestries from a large country house selling for £750,000; a collection of furniture by Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson realising £235,000, a collection of fairground carousel mounts achieving £30,000; and even a sale in September of Rod Stewart's furniture raising nearly £90,000 for charity.
Auctions have certainly come a long way since 1782. Every lot is catalogued by their professional team, illustrated online and sold across the world through their live internet bidding platform. The excitement of sale day hasn't changed though - the buzz and thrill of the auction is still infectious - but the coffee and cakes from their on- site café are even better!
