Welcome
Welcome to another edition of ‘Rooftops’, which we hope you’ll enjoy. We also hope that you might want to consider buying, selling or letting a property through us as well, but if not, at least you’ll know where to come to when a professional service is required.
I have previously written about the strength of our lettings business; so successful has this been under the guidance of Rachel Suff that I’m very pleased to advise that she has accepted an invitation to join our business as a Partner. We believe there will be a growing demand for property to rent, for a variety of economic and social reasons and our plea is clear; Landlords, please consider us!
We have just finished a very satisfactory 12 months in property sales. The number of houses coming to the market remains at an all-time low but sales are continuing at a steady rate. Houses in the upper end of the market continue to look inexpensive relative to comparable property elsewhere in such proximity to London, but we don’t expect any rise in values in the foreseeable future. As ever, a correctly priced house sells - and we need a lot more of them please.
This year the new homes market has been particularly strong, possibly in reaction to the lack of second hand stock. We are fortunate to be the agent of choice for many national and more local housebuilders, with a great many new homes sold in the past year. There is also a very active market in building plots and sites and our specialist advice in that area has reaped rich rewards for many clients.
Much attention has been centred on Brexit and it seems clear that many major decisions, both personal and commercial, have been delayed until the outcome is known. When that deed is done, we expect a wave of transactions and a considerable ‘bounce’ in the market; whether that bounce will be sustained remains to be seen.
Finally I pay tribute to my fellow partners and our wonderful colleagues; they work very hard to achieve the outcomes our client’s desire. That’s why I was so proud they were recognised as ‘Best mid-sized estate agent in East Anglia’ in the recent Rightmove national property awards.
Have a peaceful, prosperous and healthy 2019. Best wishes, David Burr
