Property description

The space

The accommodation combines character features along with modern and contemporary finishes that are ideal for a relaxing short or long break. An inviting hall with feature brick walls accesses a beautifully equipped kitchen/breakfast room which has a vaulted ceiling. There are extensive storage and modern integrated appliances to ensure your stay has that ‘home from home’ feel. The sitting room has a part vaulted ceiling and French doors to the rear and is furnished with comfort in mind. The ground floor bedroom has a dual aspect with views of the manicured grounds of the host dwelling. The second bedroom has character features and Velux roof lights, with twin beds. The bathroom is luxuriously appointed and fully tiled with a free-standing oval-ended bath, his and hers sinks, and a large walk-in shower. Guests can relax and enjoy the tranquilities in a private garden which has an entertaining terrace, and benefits from a south and westerly aspect, ideal for late evening drinks or ‘al fresco’ dining.

The cottage is as described. Apart from the occasional airplanes flying overhead, it’s very peaceful. There isn’t much of a view unless you sit in the garden, where you can look out over the neighbor’s pond. The kitchen is practically equipped, although there is no coffee machine. The TV has picture issues but still works. The beds are comfortable. There’s a pub about 200 meters away. If you enjoy walking, there are plenty of hiking opportunities starting right from the house. We had a lovely holiday week here.

Great stay at this property! The location was easy to find, with plenty of parking for two large vehicles. It’s only an hour away from London, making it a convenient getaway. The property itself was a great size for four people, and the fenced garden was a bonus for anyone with a large dog.Everything was clean, including the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms. Checkout was seamless—I left at the exact time without feeling rushed or reminded, which was really appreciated. The hosts were professional, responsive, and helpful throughout. I’d love to stay again, whether at this property or another one of theirs. Highly recommend!

A high quality stable conversion with all the mod cons and a spacious private garden. Mobile reception isnt great, but WiFi was strong. Nearby walks and dog friendly pub just down the road. Would happily stay again.

The accommodation was well equipped, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The surroundings are beautiful. A perfect setting for exploring and relaxation. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay.

We arrived to find that the Key box code was different from the one that we had been told to use, thankfully this was rectified by a call to the agent - communication could of been better regarding this. We were slightly disappointed that the property was not decorated for Christmas, we normally book a cottage over Christmas and this is the first property that we have stayed at that has not been decorated.The property was warm and clean throughout with plenty of hot water - a shower tidy in the shower would be a welcome addition. The kitchen is well stocked with Pans and utensils and the sofas and beds are comfy.Overall The Stables is a lovely property set in a quiet and rural location, but be aware that there is some plane noise as it is situated under the Stanstead flight path but this would put us off booking again.

Very nice pleasant accommodation however pet friendly but not allowed to leave pets in premises alone. We booked as had family party but unable to go as not allowed to leave our 1 well behaved dog alone. This should be noted in the advertisement about being pet friendly but not allowed to leave pets. Accommodation cannot be faulted but trip was a disappointment as could not attend family party I had to stay home with my pet while partner went to party.
