Rooftops Magazine Summer 2016

Welcome to another edition of ‘Rooftops’, which we hope you will find continues to be a good read, full of interesting, amusing and informative articles. We also hope that you might want to consider buying, selling or letting a property through us as well – but if not, at least you’ll know what we do and where to come to.

As I write, the main subject of conversation is Britain’s forthcoming referendum on its membership of The European Union. The uncertainty of that vote is having an effect on decision making across the spectrum; this, combined with the expected spike in transactions following the changes in Stamp Duty Land Tax, has led to a very slightly lower level of activity in the sales market than previous years. The market isn’t in the doldrums but equally it isn’t roaring away.

I continue with our mantra on house prices in our region – they look incredibly good value in comparison with other parts of the South East. There really is probably no better value in the south of England; for that reason we are confident that irrespective of The Vote, we will continue to see prosperity in our region.

In the rental market our lettings division continues to grow from strength to strength; the lack of supply is still forcing rents upwards. In this area, more than ever, we urgently seek to satisfy the demand for high quality housing. Solandlords, please consider us!

Best wishes
David Burr
