Pick Your Own Pumpkins

Rougham Estate, Rougham, Bury St Edmunds, 14th-15th October, then everyday 20th-29th October 2023

The Pumpkin Patch at Rougham Estate, just east of Bury St Edmunds, will be full of colour this October, as thousands of pumpkins, squashes and gourds in 18 different varieties from miniature to extra-large will be waiting to be picked. Get ready for Halloween with free entry, just pay for your chosen pumpkin and treat yourself to delicious coffee and posh toasties.

Lionel Bart’s Oliver

Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds, 17th-21st October 2023

This October, why not take in the award-winning show, Oliver, at the Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds. Based on Charles Dicken’s novel, the story tells the twists and turns of an orphaned boy’s life in Victorian England. Lionel Bart’s classic musical will be presented by the Bury St Edmunds Operatic and Dramatic Society.

Trick or Treat Evening at Landguard Fort

Christmas Lights

Ickworth Light Nights

Ickworth Estate, Horringer, Bury St Edmunds, 10th-26th November 2023

Admire Ickworth’s Italianate palace and glorious gardens by evening, strolling through paths lined with lights. Look for willow woven sculptures and gothic inspired Stumpery in the shadows. This year, for the first time, the Rotunda will be illuminated, revealing its impressive façade, vast Cedar meadow and North Lawn which it overlooks.

Illuminated Garden Trail

Helmingham Hall, Helmingham, Stowmarket, 16th November – 17th December 2023

The trail will explore the historical grounds and take you across Helmingham’s famous drawbridge. Clare Christmas Fair

Lavenham Two Day Winter Craft Market

Lavenham Village Hall, Lavenham, 25th-26th November 2023

Peruse the forty or so stalls of handmade arts and crafts in the Village Hall, take part in workshops and visit the café for refreshments. On day two, the award winning Lavenham Farmers Market will be outside the Hall, offering artisan produce from across the region, including locally baked fresh bread and Suffolk pork, Longhorn beef, lamb and venison.

Santa’s Workshop

A visit to Santa’s workshop at Kersey Mill includes a ride on the Santa Express Christmas Train, a dancing Elf Disco as well as meeting Mr Claus himself. Winter Bird Identification

A Joyful Dickensian Christmas

Kentwell Hall, Long Melford, 9-10 & 16-17 December 2023

Step back in time to 1869, as Kentwell Hall invites visitors to meet their Victorian Bence Family, household staff and cooks. Visitors of all ages can immerse themselves in a range of enjoyable activities taking place both inside the Hall and various locations outside including the garden, yard and music hall. Father Christmas will also be making an appearance.
