Dragonfly Cottage is a beautifully presented, charming period property thought to date back to the 1400s. The property is situated in the most idyllic spot, nestled between the Grade I listed Holy Trinity Church and the stunning Trinity Hospital (now almshouses). The property is just a short walk from some of the village’s best pubs and restaurants as well as superb countryside walks both throughout the grounds of the renowned Kentwell Hall and surrounding footpaths.
The property has been lovingly cared for and has been presented to a high standard while remaining sympathetic to the cottage’s heritage. Numerous original features can still be seen including exposed timbers and a cosy open fireplace. The property contains a sitting room with a bay window looking into Church Walk itself and plenty of seating together with a smart TV for a quiet night in. The kitchen contains a dining table and chairs and a range of appliances including a fridge, Stove cooker and gas hob, integrated dishwasher and washer/dryer. Upstairs, accommodation is arranged over two further floors with the master bedroom overlooking the old hospital gardens and a spacious shower room on the first floor and a further double room on the second floor.
Outside, the property benefits from a fully private garden. There is parking available approximately 10m from the property in a free village car park situated at the top of the green itself.
Long Melford itself is home to a wonderful variety of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs with the Black Lion Hotel serving excellent food and drink less than 1 minute's walk away! Long Melford has long been a shopping destination for antiques and artwork with a number of galleries and shops still showcasing a fantastic collection of items. In addition to its amenities, Long Melford is nestled within beautiful countryside with plenty of footpaths out through farmland and land belonging to two stately homes, Kentwell Hall and Melford Hall – both of which periodically open to the public and are well worth a visit.
Within easy reach are a number of other historic villages including Lavenham, one of the best preserved medieval wool towns in England, Clare which is the smallest town in Suffolk and the nearby Cathedral town of Bury St Edmunds. Sudbury is a thriving market town just a 5-10 minute drive away with plenty of shops, visitor attractions and restaurants and train line links into London and beyond.
Dragonfly Cottage is a delightful retreat in a fantastic location ready to help you explore everything this beautiful village and area has to offer.

Really enjoyed the stay at Dragonfly Cottage, very comfortable, good amenities and great location, would definitely recommend.

Lovely cottage in the loveliest village. Comfy beds, large bathroom with huge tub, cosy interior. The garden is paved but there's a little bench to sit on - plenty of room to sit out if you were to bring your own loungers/fold out chairs.Only downside, and this is not the hosts fault! - the next door neighbour seems to object to it being a holiday let and is quite rude/snarky with the guests. We were a bit shocked by his behaviour towards us, it out an unpleasant tinge on the week. But the cottage and village really are so lovely - thanks for hosting us

Great little place. We enjoyed our stay. Only issue was the WiFi hub didn't work. Would stay again.

This place was amazing ! Beautiful cottage in a really lovely location overlooking the church. Perfect for a few days of peace and quite and to explore the local area. The property is decorated to a high standard, the bathroom and kitchen are renovated and the place if furnished with quality and tasteful items, made the stay feel luxurious and cozy. Equipped with all you need. Comfortable beds, storage space and a great fireplace. We loved staying here with our girls and dog.

Great location, lots of shops and pubs in walking distance. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils, beds were clean and comfy. Having an open fire makes dragonfly cottage a great place for winter breaks.

A cosy and comfortable little cottage with everything we needed. The only downside was a step threshold to the landing from the bedroom and a below head height beam across the landing so it might not be good for heavy sleepers who need to get up in the night.

Just came back from a 5 day stay at the beautiful Dragonfly cottage, it was a real home from home in a beautiful quiet location with lots of local walks and pubs, just what was needed. The only downside for me was the bed was too soft, which gave me a terrible back ache in the morning, but everyone’s needs are different so if you like a soft bed then this is a fabulous stay.
