Situated on Coast Road amidst a cluster of quirky and original houseboats, Lorna is approached via a shingled parking area with a parking bay (set behind a chain link fence). A decked walkway leads to the houseboat with steps rising to a decked area a seating area with seating for three guests and a beautiful aspect across the individual properties on Coast Road and the River Blackwater distant. The houseboat enjoys an open-plan living space complete with French doors opening to the rear viewing platform and two settees with two further armchairs providing an aspect across the unspoilt landscape beyond. A kitchen area is complete with an integrated microwave, two-ring hob and fridge with breakfast bar with seating area and an adjacent shower room. The principal living space is enhanced by spectacular views and board games are available for use. An original, winding staircase descends to the lower deck whereby five bedrooms are arranged via a further sitting room, beautifully restored in the mould of a traditional ship cabin, further reading material and an ideal evening/winter area. One of our most distinctive holiday lets, perfectly formed to embrace the true essence of Mersea Island with its strong sailing links, historic oyster industry, and range of restaurants, pubs, facilities and cafes. An opportunity to experience the relaxed, calming nature of life on the river.
Please note that the boardwalk to reach the boat is not suitable for those unstable on their feet and the stairs are steep.
This property is an idyllic technology-free retreat and does not have wifi or a smart TV.

Very peaceful. Good local restaurants nearby and fresh seafood within walking distance. Very clean and with beautiful views

We stayed in the house boat for 5 days and it was amazing , very tranquil and peaceful location . Would honestly recommend and we can’t wait to go back . 5 stars all round

We had such a great stay on the house boat. It was something very different and our boys had lots of fun. Its cosy in the bedrooms but the upstairs part is well decorated and contains everything you need for your stay. We stayed for two nights and would definitely look to return...shame the service fee is so expensive compared to the cost of two nights otherwise we'd be there regularly.

Great location. Fabulous outlook. Super bright lounge upstairs. Good outside space.

Overall we loved it. Partly because we're positive people and flexible so we didn't let certain things bother us.great quiet location if your after a simple, relaxing break.2 minutes walk to the beach and to a pontoon for crabbing and ice creamvery quirky, the children enjoyed hide and seek and general excitement of the tides going in and out and the interesting creatures around the boatviews are amazing, space is amazing, open, bright and nice.we are thinking of booking for next year.negatives (I say this to help improve as it's a new Airbnb not to complain)No WiFi our whole stay. we were fine with this as it meant a nice break from tech but many people would not have been happy and if it says there is WiFi, there should be. David burr did message back after 24hrs but said nothing could be done.No tin opener dvds missing from cases (and no WiFi) no welcome folder, could do with a sign/leaflet or something sheets were clean but dirt/dust had gathered over timethanks x
