Here we’ll take you through some of the best walking routes in Suffolk, perfect for an unforgettable day out. Dedham Vale and Stour Valley

This picturesque area of Suffolk is home to some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK. The Dedham Vale and Stour Valley walking route takes you through charming villages, lush green meadows, and along the banks of the River Stour. The trail is around 4.5 miles and is perfect for a leisurely afternoon stroll.

This is a perfect walk for all ages and abilities if you’re staying in our large Grade II holiday let, Rochfords, in Wormingford.

Suffolk Coast Path

The Suffolk Coast Path is a 50-mile walking route that takes you from Lowestoft to Felixstowe, passing through stunning coastal landscapes, historic towns and quaint fishing villages. The path offers mesmerising sea views and the chance to spot some of the UK’s rarest wildlife, such as marsh harriers and otters. You can dip in and out of different sections according to where you’re staying and the length you wish to walk!

Orford Ness National Nature Reserve

The Orford Ness National Nature Reserve is a unique landscape with shingle beaches, salt marshes, and wildflower meadows. The reserve is also home to a fascinating military history, with abandoned military buildings and missile testing sites to explore (with care!). The walking route is around 7 miles and takes you through some of the reserve’s most scenic areas. It’s easily reachable from many of our holiday lets, including The Tudor House Lodge and the Granary Barn.

Southwold to Walberswick

Southwold to Walberswick

The walk from Southwold to Walberswick is one of the most popular in Suffolk and for good reason. The route takes you along the coast, with stunning sea views and the chance to spot rare wildlife, such as avocets, as well as friendly seals bobbing in the waves. The route is around 5.5 miles and is perfect for a family-friendly day out.

Thetford Forest

For an adventurous walk, head to Thetford Forest. With over 18,000 hectares of woodland to explore, Thetford Forest offers a range of walking routes to suit all abilities. The forest is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including deer, badgers, and red squirrels, and the walking paths take you through some of the most scenic areas. There are also fun play areas for intrepid kids dotted amongst the trees, and ice cream is available at the café if you need to entice little legs to walk a little further.
