Visit a nationally recognised ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)’ with over 90sq km to explore.

The Dedham Vale & Stour Valley is a picturesque area covering 90sq km. Throughout the towns and villages, the historic buildings and churches highlight the wealth from the wool and fabric trades, and the area’s importance as a trading route.

The best way to explore the Dedham valley is by walking on one of the many routes. There are two long-distance routes: The Essex Way (82 miles) and Stour Valley Path (60 miles). Alternatively, there are shorter routes which take walkers through the stunning countryside and historic towns and villages.

Dedham Vale is home to stunning landscapes and Nature. Throughout the towns and villages, the historic buildings and churches give signs of wealth generated from the wool and fabric trades, highlighting the area’s importance as a trading route.
