Things to do in Suffolk: Framlingham Castle

Visit Suffolk’s Castle on the Hill to explore the towering walls and where Mary Tudor was proclaimed Queen of England.

Located in the market town of Framlingham, stands Framlingham Castle, a magnificent 12th-century fortress with a long and colourful past. It is one of the best-preserved medieval castles in the UK with the oldest surviving Tudor chimneys in the country.

The spectacular wall walk is perfect to admire stunning views over the town and countryside and learn the history behind the castle. Ed Sheeran fans will be interested to know that his 2017 hit ‘Castle on the Hill’ is inspired by Framlingham castle. The music video even features the castle in its final scene.
