The National Stud Tour

Things to do in Suffolk: The National Stud Tour Newmarket

To this day, The National Stud remains the only commercial Stud farm in the UK allowing individuals, small groups and large parties the chance to see behind the scenes

The National Stud opened its gates to the public for the first time in the mid 1970’s. To this day, The National Stud remains the only commercial Stud farm in the UK allowing individuals, small groups and large parties the chance to see behind the scenes of a working thoroughbred stud farm.

Enjoy a guided tour of the National Stud for £15 per person or £35 for our family ticket (two adults and two children). Tours run every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays, at 10.30 am and 1.30 pm from mid-February to the end of October.

Depending on the season and daily activities on the Stud, visitors can expect to see mares with their young foals in the paddocks, plus yearlings and stallions, all set within the beautiful 500 acres of grounds. During your 90 minute tour which is on foot and by mini-bus, you will also hear about the history of how the Stud developed. Plus an overview of the work that goes into producing the future champions of the turf.
